Each year 500 deserving boys from Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Kern and Orange Counties are given the opportunity to go to the camp free of charge through the generosity of the people of Southern California. In the past 60 years over 24,000 boys have had this life changing experience.

Founded in 1949 by oilman Bob Pyles, the camp is supported by special fund raising events and by contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations and service organizations in each of the local areas we serve in Southern California. During that time countless men and women from Southern California have given of their time and resources to help boys become good and productive citizens. We are extremely proud of our success and recognize that it is only made possible by people who have faith in our ability to change boys' lives forever.

What You Can Do

• Sponsor a Boy -

Several years ago we introduced our Sponsor-A-Boy program.  A simple concept, we ask individuals and businesses to sponsor one or more boys from their community through the summer program and one year of post-camp contact.  At the cost of $1,000 per boy, not only is it a wise social investment, it is affordable.
  
Good ideas work.  Our Sponsor-A-Boy program was enthusiastically embraced and has grown steadily.   Last year 76 individuals or businesses sponsored 113 boys.  For many of our youth who have experienced more than their share of rejection, it means a lot to know that total strangers cared enough to send them to an experience of a lifetime.  We are exceedingly grateful to those individuals and businesses who sponsored one or more boys for this past year.

Or you may want to consider a more lasting gift.  A gift of $20,000 to our Endowment Fund will annually sponsor one boy forever.

• United Way designated pledges boost our budget. 

Fall is here and that means it is time for the annual United Way campaign.  Even though we are not a United Way Agency, many people do not realize that you can designate your contributions to any qualified 501 © (3) non-profit organization
 
At Pyles Camp we are grateful that a growing number of people are choosing to designate their "fair share" dollars to Pyles Camp.  It is a simple and relatively painless way to help a deserving boy.  If the company you work for has a United Way campaign, please consider Pyles Boys Camp as a designated pledge.
